Yuntai Mountain is facing Jinshan Mountain across the river, so it was also called Yinshan Mountain and Yintai Mountain, and later called Yuntai Mountain due to phonological change.
Yuntai Pavilion, newly built on the top of Yuntai Mountain, is an ancient-style building imitating that of Song Dynasty (960-1279) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). The main tower has four floors, with a total height of 31.5 meters and a building area of 1773.26 square meters. The left and right sides of the main tower and the anteroom are respectively connected with Erweng Pavilion and Juming Hall by zigzag walkways, forming the Yuntai Pavilion complex.
Climbing up Yuntai Pavilion, you can overlook the surrounding landscape of Zhenjiang, among which Yuntai Mountain, and the three mountains including Jinshan Mountain, Beigu Hill and Jiaoshan Mountain complement each other, and the North Lake and the Yangtze River present an impressive waterscape. The old town and the new town of Zhenjiang can be seen at a glance.
