Baotashan Park, also known as the Sino-Japanese Friendship Plum Blossom Garden, is the theme park of Zhenjiang’s foreign affairs activities. The park is full of city trees and flowers of seven international sister cities of Zhenjiang, including Chinese plum blossoms, Japanese cherry blossoms, American roses, Canadian red maple and so on.
The architecture in the park is also very distinctive, with both styles of Chinese gardens and charms of Japanese gardens. The main scenic spots are Sangha Tower, Gong Zizhen Poem Tablet, Xuezi Pavilion, Hongmei Pavilion, Nanxiang Pavilion, Qitian Pool and Cherry Blossom Building.
The best season to visit the park is from February to May every year. In early spring, thousands of plum blossoms in the park are in full bloom, beautiful and graceful, and the garden is full of spring scenery. It is the ideal place for visitors to enjoy plum blossoms. Every April, during the bright and sunny spring days, the cherry blossoms in the garden are in full bloom. Strings of cherry blossoms hang on the branches like colorful bells, and the whole park is submerged in the ocean of flowers. It is a great pleasure for people to enjoy cherry blossoms in Baotashan Park.
Baotashan Park has become a dazzling pearl in Zhenjiang City. The park is verdant, and full of birds and flowers, with different sceneries and flowers at four seasons. The plant landscape and cultural landscape add radiance and beauty to each other, with elegant and beautiful style and refreshing and pleasant scenery. It receives thousands of international friends every year, which fully embodies the theme of Friendly Park.
[Sangha Tower]
Sangha Tower was first built in Tang Dynasty (618-907), and then moved to Dingshi Mountain in the period of Emperor Wanli of Ming Dynasty (around 1595), which became an important symbol of Zhenjiang East Gate. The tower has seven levels and eight sides, with dense eaves and far-apart stories, which is square inside, and staggered up, and the wall is one meter thick. It is a brick-built pavilion-like structure with a wooden appearance and a height of 32.5 meters on the white stone base. Roll-shaped doors are built on all sides of the tower, walls are built around the tower, mountain gates are built, and “Ancient Sangha Tower” is carved on the stone tablet.
[Xiyu Pool]
Xiyu Pool (literally pool fond of rain) circles around the mountain and its water system is connected with Qitian Pool. The water falls into the mountain stream through the stacked stones, gurgling into Xiyu Pool, forming an artificial waterfall. The rockery beside the pool shapes a particular scenery, and the bamboo green waterfall pavilion is located in Xiyu Pool. The design is ingenious and the layout is unique.
[Cherry Blossom Building]
“Kura” is a typical building in Kurashiki. The “Kura” with Japanese style and architectural features of Kurashiki is scaled down on the banks of Qitian Pool, which has a unique style with cherry blossoms in spring. Cherry Blossom Building is now turned into an archaeological gallery, which has become an important symbol of Zhenjiang culture.
